music: "Raise the Dead" Phantom Planet

I... have the tan line from hell.
Really, someone should make a horror movie about it.

This is why tanning is bad, unless you do it completely naked.
And there's no way on God's green earth that I'm paying to get a tan, and there's really no location in which I am comfortable enough to lay out without clothes, so what do you do?  As unsightly as my tan arms compared to my white-as-a-ghost body is, I have the feeling that tan lines on boobs would be exponentially worse.
And that's according to Justin, too.  So I guess I'll count my blessings?

I think I'll just start wearing more sunscreen.

OTHER THINGS:
1.  I am a high school graduate.
2.  I got back from orientation the day before yesterday, and I'm pretty stoked about my classes as well as the fact that Music History is offered as a major.
3.  Despite my distractingly messy room and my inability to find a job, I am very happy.

Q: What's the best way to stop water from running?
A: Don't pay the bill.

I am dead serious, that was on a Laffy Taffy that I read today.
And here is another gem.

Q: What happened to the wind?
A: It blew away.

Everything is over.
The show, prom, and especially my junior year.
The seniors are gone, and I'm missing them terribly.
I am also needing a job, but am lacking the initiative and courage to ask for applications.
Lame?

The Bright Eyes show is likewise over, but awfully amazing nonetheless.

The best part of the evening:

"This next song is, like, religion to me and the band. ...You know, I hear there's a Christian music festival in town today. I'm kinda surprised they didn't ask us to play. Yeah, I was pretty verklempt. Oh, I gotta stop talkin' Yiddish or Andy's gonna kill me."

I am sick. Ill. Generally gross-feeling.

Our "Broadway Revue" is in less than two weeks. Notice the quotes.
Ahem. I will be singing a solo. "Home" from The Wiz.
Sweet fancy Moses. I would just not do it. But considering Watkins might very well be directing the musical next year, she says she needs to know that I can do it.
Which means I'm pretty much stuck.
And I want to, I do.
I'm just scared shitless, is all.
And I can't find the song on Limewire. Which means I'm shit out of luck when it comes to actually learning it.
Wah wah WAH.

Tonight!

Tomorrow!
CATS testing begins.

music: "O Valencia!" The Decemberists

I'm really sorry I haven't updated or commented lately, but this is an unbelivably busy time of year for me. I've been swamped with papers, projects, and the ACT. I get on when I can, but it's difficult sometimes.

I got my GSA letter today.
I am an alternate in creative writing.
Which is cool, I guess. Abbey got to go as an alternate last year.
I'd be a lot more excited if a certain someone I rather dislike hadn't gotten flat-out accepted (in a different discipline, but it still kind of smarts).

My tooth has been absolutely killing me.
And it's pretty frightening; I've had a lot of cavities, but never one that really hurt. If it doesn't get better, Mom's going to call the dentist.
And just when I thought I had escaped them for six months.

Mat--the sweetheart--came over yesterday and gave me The Honorary Title's new album, which--by the way--doesn't even have an official release date yet.
That means I win!

Apr. 7th, 2007 | 09:48 pm

For Valentine's Day, Jon made me two amazing mixed CDs of songs that mean a lot to him. Pretty much my favorite display of affection. I was so excited to reciprocate; I love making mixed CDs, but with everything piling up I haven't had the time until this week.
But.
I am very near finished with them now.
It was a kick making them, too. Since he gave me songs that mean a lot to him, I figured I'd do the same. So I took a little trip down memory lane (a.k.a. my music library), and rediscovered a lot of my old favorites.

Tonight Brad, Ashley, and I spent two-and-a-half hours at Books-A-Million, during which time I perused a RABBIT MAGAZINE.
In case you were not aware, boy, I love rabbits.
I can't get one now, because my cat will eat it, but the second I move out, I will be getting a Holland Lop.
Which looks like this.

Spartan9529 (9:47:28 PM): oh yeah i forgot
Spartan9529 (9:47:35 PM): oh and i have cancer

Here is a terrifying story for you. Actually, it was a terrifying story for Jon, considering it's pretty much my message to him verbatim. But I thought everyone would enjoy my little adventure.

One of my favorite beverages in the whole world is apple juice from juice boxes (that isn't the scary part). Well. I was drinking one last night and I... may have forgotten to throw it away before I fell asleep.

We have trouble with ants every spring, so we have to be very careful not to... attract any.
Well. After a productivite day of taking pictures at the park of people I don't know, I returned home to find my TV tray (my desk subsitute--I actually have a desk, but not a chair for it, so I just sit on my bed and do whatever it is that requires a flat surface on the TV tray) COVERED, I repeat, COVERED with ants. I realized that the source was the apple juice box. It was really scary. They kept on coming out through the straw. Can you imagine taking a sip of that?

Due to my extreme squeamishness, I didn't want to just try to wipe them all up. Because I figured that way I might end up touching one, God forbid. So I came up with the brilliant idea of vacuuming them up!
And it works if you catch them off guard (and it's kind of fun to watch, too). But if they know you're coming, I don't know, they have some sort of bizarre suction power that makes the task more difficult than you might assume.

But the scariest part was getting rid of the juice box itself. Do you remember that episode of Friends where the pigeon flies in and Rachel traps it with the pot? It was kind of like that.

Well. After a few hours of vacuuming, waiting, vacuuming, waiting, and vacuuming, I don't seem to have made much of a dent in their population. So my dad is going to bomb my room.
Fun, eh?

I am not going to the Jetpack show at the Brothers' tonight because I bought a CD at Best Buy on a whim, and I am not willing to spend any more of my much-needed cash.
Well.
That's my official excuse.

In reality, I am sick to death of the pseudo-scenesters who go there every weekend, and then bitch and moan about the fact that every once in a while a decent band like Jetpack performs (as opposed to a sad excuse for a hardcore band, as per usual).
Give me a fucking break.
If you're going to like hardcore, like good hardcore.
Don't pay eight bucks to watch some screaming dude mess up his choreography and bash his head against the neck of his bandmate's guitar (true story).
Grow some taste.

Today it was eighty degrees outside.
Would you like to know what temperature it's going to be next Thursday, in the midst of spring break?
Thirty-two.
Yowza.

music: "Pink Bullets" The Shins

Dear MySpace,
Why must you continue to suck?
Love,
Melissa.

SPRING BREAK HAS BEGUN!
It's some pretty exciting stuff.

Yesterday, Ashley and I went to the library after school (in celebration of spring).
AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE TREASURES WHICH THEREIN LIE.
In the CD section I found Elliott Smith's Either/Or and Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, two gaping holes in my collection.
AND GUESS WHAT, FOLKS. YOU CAN CHECK THEM OUT FOR FREE (and then illegally burn them onto your computer).
And Ashley found the first season of House, and was almost as excited as I was!

So we make our way up to the counter and are simultaneously told that we cannot check out media from the library without our parents, because we are under eighteen.

I thought I was going to cry.
I mean, I can drive a car, but I can't check CDs out from the library?
Something is terribly amiss.

But never fear. My mother will be accompanying me today, and I will get those CDs. Mark my words.

P.S.
Today's grammar lesson:
"CDs" had no apostrophe, despite popular opinion and what the dipstick who programmed LJ's spell check says.

And here is a testament to that fact.
Yet another gift:

HEY )

Today is Wednesday.
Do you know what that means?
TOMORROW IS FRIDAY!
:D
That's right.
Spring break's a-startin'.
And I am READY for...

HAH.
That is my kind of job.

I took some excellent pictures today.
But it is 10:14.
Not an opportune time for uploading them.
Especially since I have to be at school at 7:00 to take that damn Pre-Cal test.

There is a strange phenomenon, in case you have yet to hear, called "answering your damn phone."
Don't thank me, folks.
I am here to educate.

Pre-Wendell Foster was a lot of fun, actually.
We took a little field trip to Starbucks.
And nothing makes a girl feel more sophisticated than ordering a Vanilla Bean Frappacino while wearing a sundress in eighty-degree weather.

Here is a confession for today:
I am hopelessly in love with Patrick Stump. Oh, sweet Moses. Every time he opens his mouth, I hear the voice of an angel.

Study for my test tomorrow?
No, thanks!

All the cool kids are at The Brothers' watching Imagine Asians,
but I am about to eat some of the best ice cream known to man while watching the second season of Friends.

I think I am the ultimate winner here, folks.

I had the ACT Math course this morning-slash-afternoon.
And it wasn't terrible; I made a new friend.
And got sum tacoz.

I was abandoned today.
Sad?
Not particularly.

KYLE: To see the Blood Brothers in Louisville!
ME: WHAT.
KYLE: Corey and I are going.
ME: (Scowl.)
KYLE: It's going to be a lot of stuff off Young Machetes, which I don't really like that much.
ME: (Scowl.)
KYLE: But you'd proably like it. I mean, I know you're a big fan. (Evil grin.)
ME: (SCOWL.)
KYLE: Seriously, though, tickets are only thirteen dollars. You should totally go!
ME: Goddamnit. I have Where's Waldo tomorrow.
KYLE: Oh. Shit.

Mar. 21st, 2007 | 12:00 pm
music: "The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined" Chiodos

No school for me today, kids.
I have too much to do.

FOR TOMORROW:
1. Read chapter seven in the US History book.
2. Become miraculously good at Pre-Cal.
2A. Complete make-up assignments from when I was absent due to the damn state speech tournament.
2B. Learn the unit circle so I can make up that quiz tomorrow morning.
2C. Learn everything else from the chapter so I can successfully take the test tomorrow without freaking the fuck out.
3. Prepare notecard as well as presentation on Hungarian immigrant.
3A. Be angry about it.

FOR FRIDAY:
1. Write rough draft of US History commentary.
2. Prepare ten source cards for English research paper on Jane Austen.
3. Glance over vocabulary.

It's headache time, folks.

WELL )

Here is something fun about not going to school:
Mother will be home momentarily with Ritzy's.
SCORE.
And would you like to know what I plan on doing while consuming the delicious hamburger that awaits?
Certainly not homework!
I will watch Friends, and think about the track list for Jon's mixed CD.

Someone just rang my doorbell.
I didn't answer, because I assumed they would want my mother. That, and I look hideous.
But then he/she knocked.
And then he/she rang again.
And then he/she finally left.

After stealthily peeking out the window and seeing the back of his/her head, I have idea of who the unexpected visitor was, and, let's just stay, I'm happy I didn't make an effort to accomodate him/her.
It was a close call.
